Secularized Christmas? Nay Sir!!!

 



The problem of the modern world is it loves to cast the very artist who made it to the sidelines.  It's a very strange sight if you ask me. A robot or an android remains a creation even if it has a thought of it's own. It's not a living thing right? To separate Michael Angelo from his artworks or Plato from his Philosophy doesn't change the fact that they exist only because of the ones who made them.


In the same way,  Christmas can never be secularized ever. 


Why? 


Well, every decor we put in our homes resemble The "Word made Flesh" or the "God Incarnate,  Man Divine". 



The candles resemble Christ who alone is "The Light of The World". The Green boughs of Holly or the Majestic Christmas Tree represents The Eternal Life. The Wreaths resemble The Omnipotence of The Blessed Trinity.  Santa Claus is St. Nicholas being the one of The Early Church Fathers known for his Charity for the poor. 



Look at the stars, which resemble the Star of Bethlehem. The Snow resembles Chastity. The glittering lights resemble The Angels in Heaven.  The gifts remind us of The Greatest Gift ever given- God gifts Himself to mankind.



Even foods like cakes and hot chocolate or even hot coffee resemble the sweetness and the warmth of God's Love and Mercy.  



So then, I ask; how can you keep Christmas without Christ? 


This Advent,  let us wait with peace, hope, joy and love so that Baby Jesus can be truly born in our hearts.

The Nilgiri Diaries- The Call of The Blue Mountains

 Part 6: Treks, Temples, Churches, Food & a Farewell  "I am not the same having seen the moon shine on the other side of the world" - Mary Anne Radmacher When I started going on these trips,  I never knew it would become a habit. And good habits should be inculcated,  nurtured and grown. Day 5: Chai Sutra: The Tea Trail of Ooty "Not all who wander are lost." - J.R.R. Tolkien My day began with Rosary and a trek through Elk Hill to visit the legendary Murugan temple housing a colossal statue of Murugan Swamy (Kartikeya), the god of war and bravery and the first born son of Shiva. Surrounded by pines and oaks, this trail took me half an hour's trek and Blessed with some beautiful views. Strong winds and showers of monsoon rain had made the trail not only beautiful but also dangerous but for a adventurer, when has a steep dangerous road stopped men from exploring the unexplored? Having explored Elk Hill and its charming views, I walked through another picturesque trail to The Government Rose Garden which is home to more than 500 different species of roses.
